To be eligible for admission into the Ph.D programme a candidate must possess:
a). A Master of Science (M.Sc) degree in Computer/Communications Engineering Telecommunications Engineering/Electronics Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering from a recognized University or equivalent Institution with a CGPA of 3.50 on a 4 point or of 4.00 on a 5-point grade scale.
b). A Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) degree in Computer/Communications Engineering / Telecommunications Engineering / Electronics Engineering Electrical & Electronics Engineering in addition to a professional Master's degree or equivalent with a CGPA of 3.50 on a 4 point or 4.00 on a 5-point scale.
c). In addition to a) and b), a comprehensive research proposal is to be submitted to the Department, which must be defended and passed with at least 50% during the oral interview for the candidate to be considered for admission.
NOTE: A candidate may be considered for admission either for the M.Phil or for the M.Phil/Ph.D degree program.
To graduate at the M.Phil/Ph.D level, a student must complete all PG and Departmental requirements. In addition, a student must satisfy the following:
The total minimum requirement for a M.Phil Ph.D. degree comprises 12 credits units for the thesis in addition to satisfying the coursework credit load of 45 credit units (Coursework credit units earned for the M.Sc inclusive). The candidate graduating for the M.Phil must satisfy the minimum coursework requirements for the M.Sc in addition to the thesis requirement.
NOTE: A candidate can be presented for examination for the M.Phil/Ph.D (as the case might be) after a minimum of 24 months if he/she has satisfied all the above requirements.
For any of the options selected at the M.Phil/Ph.D:
The aim of this programme is to expand the knowlege and skills of scientists, engineers and technologists in such a way that they are able to manage, more efficiently, the use of modern ICT systems for their purposes.
The aim of the "PGD. Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering" programme is to develop a critical mass of professionals in Electronics and Communications Engineering.
Students of the Master degree in "Electronics Engineering" shall be imparted the knowlege and capability which they require for careers as electronics engineers, enabling them to contribute towards developments in their various field.
Students of the Master degree in "Telecommunications Engineering" are provided with in-depth knowlege and training in design, analysis and management skills relevant to theory and practice in the telecommunications industry.
Students of the PhD degree in "Electronics Engineering" shall be imparted the knowlege and capability which they require for careers as electronics engineers, enabling them to contribute towards developments in their various field.
Students of the PhD degree in "Telecommunications Engineering" are provided with in-depth knowlege and training in design, analysis and management skills relevant to theory and practice in the telecommunications industry.
